The King of the Jinghe Dragon is the Dragon King of the Jinghe River outside Chang’an City.

The Jing River is the first major tributary of the Wei River, a tributary of the Yellow River. The ancients believed that the Jing water was clear and the Wei water was turbid. When the Jing River flows into the Wei River, the clear water does not mix with the turbid water; the clear water is clear from itself and the turbid water is turbid from itself. This is the origin of the Chinese idiom “泾渭分明”.

Because Yuan Shoucheng was able to accurately calculate the location of the Jing River’s water tribe, fishermen in the vicinity often approached him to tell their fortunes, and then went to catch large quantities of fish and shrimp at regular intervals. The King of the Jing River Dragon was so angry and fearful of this that he disguised himself as a whiterobed scholar and went to the city of Chang’an to find trouble with Yuan Shoucheng, asking him to calculate the number of points in time for tomorrow’s rainfall and threatening to drive him out of the city if he made a mistake.

As a result, the Heavenly Court suddenly sends down an imperial decree, requiring the Dragon King of Jinghe to make the exact same number of points of the hour of rain tomorrow as Yuan Shoucheng’s projection. The Dragon King of the Jinghe River was unwilling to give in and changed the number of hours of rain, violating the rules of heaven, and was later known by the Heavenly Court, which wanted to arrest him and execute him at the Dragon Cutting Platform. (The Dragon Cutting Platform is a special execution ground for dragons, and the name Dragon Cutting Platform comes from the process of removing dragon scales from dragons. The scales of the Flying Dragon obtained in the game are the scales of the King of the Jinghe Dragon.)

Since the supervisor of the beheading was Wei Zheng, a heavenly official of the human realm, who was the prime minister of the dynasty, Yuan Shoucheng asked the King of the Jing River Dragon to seek help from the Tang Emperor Li Shimin. Li Shimin promised the King of Jinghe Dragon and designed to stall Wei Zheng, but he did not expect that in the end the King of Jinghe Dragon was beheaded by Wei Zheng in his dream.

The most reasonable explanation is that, in fact, the Spirit Mountain and the Heavenly Court have long been in collusion, specifically arranged for Yuan Shoucheng to pit this King of the Jinghe Dragon, they know very well the King of the Jinghe Dragon’s temperament and character, and know that he will certainly take the bait. Even though Yuan Shoucheng had the ability to reach the heavens, how could he calculate the Jade Emperor’s holy decree, but it was because the holy decree had been prepared a long time ago, and then informed Yuan Shoucheng of the content in advance.

Yuan Shoucheng not only knows the content of the imperial decree, but also knows that the King of the Jinghe Dragon has violated the rules of heaven to be executed, and also knows that the supervisor of the decapitation is Wei Zheng, not because he can count, but because he and the mastermind behind the scene are basically the same gang. Yuan Shoucheng told the Jinghe Dragon King to seek help from Li Shimin, not because he was sincere in helping the King, but because he wanted the King to hate Li Shimin after his death. From the very beginning, when the King was chosen as a sacrifice, the King was doomed to certain death.

The mastermind behind the scene arranged Yuan Shoucheng to lure the King of the River Jing to take the bait, then chose to let Wei Zheng supervise the beheading, then tricked the King of the River Jing to go to Li Shimin to seek help, and pulled Li Shimin into the game step by step by means of a chain trick, and the ultimate goal of all these plots was Li Shimin.

After the death of the King of the Jing River Dragon, his spirit has been haunting Li Shimin in his nightly dreams, making it impossible for him to sleep peacefully. So Li Shimin let Yuchigong, Qin Shubao two generals stand guard, in order to drive away the ghosts and evil demons. (These are the two door gods that we folk put on the door)

Although the dream was free of ghosts and demons to harass him, Li Shimin was already so sick with fear that he was eventually dragged to the netherworld.

Li Shimin in the hell experienced countless scares (even met brothers Li Jiancheng and Li Yuanji pulling beatings to claim their lives), and promised a variety of benefits, the hell only let Li Shimin return to the sun.

Li Shimin traveled to hell to return to the sun, selected the Tang Monk to preside over the land and water assembly, overcoming the ghosts of the netherworld. Guanyin came out again and said, “The Mahayana Dharma of our Buddha Rulai is capable of resolving the knots of hundreds of grievances and eliminating undeserved calamities”. At this time, Li Shimin has been like a scared bird, had to believe.

Thus, the key project of fetching scriptures from the Western Paradise, after a long period of careful planning, finally officially opened ……

The four masters and disciples met Alligator, the youngest son of the King of the Jinghe Dragon, when they came to the Blackwater River to fetch scriptures in the West, and then learned about the King of the Jinghe Dragon’s family from the King of the Dragon in the West Sea.

The King of the Jinghe Dragon married the sister of the King of the West Sea Dragon and had nine sons.

As the saying goes, “The nine sons of the dragon are different from each other”: the first little yellow dragon lived in Huai Dushi; the second little black dragon lived in Ji Dushi; the third greenbacked dragon occupied Jiang Dushi; the fourth redbearded dragon guarded the River Dushi; the fifth futile dragon was with the Buddha; the sixth stable beast dragon was with the magistrate to suppress the ridge; the seventh Jingzhong dragon was with the Jade Emperor to guard the Heavenly Table of Wah; The eighth dragon, the Mirage Dragon, guards the Taiyue Mountains at the place of the big brothers.

The youngest son (the ninth son), Alligator sinensis, was a young boy, and after his father, the King of Dragons of the Jinghe River, was beheaded for violating the laws of heaven, he and his mother came to live with his uncle, the King of Dragons of the West China Sea, and were brought up by his uncle. Alligator sinensis is the only one who does not have a job. His uncle, the Dragon King of the West Sea, tells him to go to the Blackwater River to cultivate his nature and practice, expecting him to build up his merit so that he can get a deacon.

But Alligator used force to defeat the god of the Black Water River and took over the god’s water residence (the Dragon King of the Western Sea probably harbored him, or even arranged it that way on purpose). After that, Alligator was so powerful that he captured the Longevity Monk and planned to use his flesh to celebrate the birthday of the Dragon King of the Western Sea. After Sun Wukong found out about Alligator’s origin, he got Alligator’s invitation and went to ask the Dragon King of the West Sea about it. The Dragon King of the West Sea then sent Prince Mo’ang to capture Alligator at the Black Water River with his sailors and brought him back to the West Sea.

It’s uncertain whether the eight sons of the King of the Jing River Dragon got their positions before or after his death, but judging by the fact that his first four sons are in charge of the important Four Dirties, they can be much more important than their old man’s Jing River.

So some of the original interpretation that the Jinghe Dragon King, no matter how to say is very wrong, and look at the results also really for the scripture project “merit”, the court of heaven may be in order to compassionate, only to give his sons to arrange these positions. It can be said that the future of his sons is the old man’s life in exchange.

The four blasphemies is the ancient name of China for the four great rivers that flow alone into the sea, namely: Jiang, He, Huai, Ji (Yangtze River, Yellow River, Huai River, Ji Water). The four muckraking dragon kings in the game are the first four sons of the Jinghe Dragon King:

The little yellow dragon hiding in Yuan Shoucheng’s body is the eldest son of the Dragon King of the Jing River, the Dragon King of the Huai River.

From the description of the Dragon King of the Western Sea in the original story, the Four Desecration Dragon King still stayed quite peacefully at his job when he was fetching scriptures in the Western Heaven, and what happened after that is not known.

After the beheading of the King of the Jinghe Dragon, the dragons’ sons were deeply uncertain about their future. After the death of the Monkey King, Yuan Shoucheng went to the Dragon King of the Four Destinies and told them that the updated trigrams showed that the dragon was in the abyss and that there was an opportunity to move: “As long as we can find a hidden place to hide, and kill every little monkey looking for the root of the Great Sage, then we will be able to make up for our sins.”

After hearing this, the four blasphemous dragon kings left the Water Mansion and went off to plan individually. The Red Bearded Dragon, the Little Li Dragon, and the Green Backed Dragon hid in the Black Bear Spirit, the Yellow Wind Monster, and the Yellow Eyebrows respectively, while the Little Yellow Dragon was transformed into a tattoo and hid in Yuan Shoucheng.

But this AWOL, not afraid of the Heavenly Court blame? It feels like they were completely crippled by Yuan Shoucheng! Or it can also be interpreted this way, Yuan Shoucheng may be the embodiment of some big brother in the sky, the four blasphemous Dragon King understand that this is actually the meaning of the Heavenly Court, even if you do not want to go to have to go ah.

The four blasphemous dragon kings are also miserable enough, they probably know that Yuan Shoucheng cannot be trusted, but they can only be at the mercy of Heaven and Yuan Shoucheng. “Sacrificing one’s life to become benevolent is the destiny of my clan for generations”, and in the end, they all became practice objects on the way to Sun Wukong’s resurrection.

“There is no cause, why is the head hanging over the city cao? Without cause, what is the reason for the four malfunctions being out of control? There is no reason why the colors are perplexed? There is no reason why compassion should be perverted.” Yuan Shoucheng was afraid that you would not be able to find them, and when he arrived at the hiding place of the Dragon King of the Four Destinies, he read it out, and by the way, he also told how to beat the Dragon King of the Four Destinies. “Those three brothers of yours have all been put to death. If you don’t go to meet them, when will you wait?” Yuan Shoucheng’s last words to Little Yellow Dragon were really ruthless. Who was the one who fooled them that they could redeem their sins in the first place?

Also, in one of the early trailers, where you take the flying dragon scales, the little yellow dragon is drawing the Monkey King back when he was begging to learn from Master Bodhi, but in the actual game there’s only the drawing here and not the little yellow dragon.

The poem in Yuan Shoucheng’s Picture of the Shadow God, “Half a life wasted, half a life busy, laughing at the sky is absurd,” probably has a similar meaning.
